Department of Criminology
The Department of Criminology at the University of South Florida (USF) invites applications for
a twelve-month, full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction position to begin August
7, 2026. The position will be based on the Sarasota-Manatee campus and level will be dependent
on qualifications.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice,
or a closely related social science discipline or a Doctorate in Criminal Justice by the date of
appointment. J.D. degrees are not acceptable. The successful candidate will primarily teach in the
Master of Arts in Criminal Justice (MACJ) program, particularly within the Administration
concentration, and will also assist with undergraduate courses in criminology as needed. Teaching
responsibilities will be live and online, with final workload to be determined.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely related field or a Doctorate in Criminal
Justice (conferred by August 7, 2026).
Demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness at the university level with evidence of
teaching across modalities, particularly online course delivery.
Demonstrated upper-level administrative experience at a local, state, federal criminal
justice agency/organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching and mentoring graduate students, especially working professionals
and non-traditional students.
Commitment to supporting USF’s strategic priorities, including preparing students for
professional and leadership success, fostering university-community partnerships, and enhancing inclusivity in academic programs.
