Description

The Custodian is responsible for performing daily housekeeping and sanitation activities. Incumbent must supervise trustees and inmates on work details and conduct outdoor sanitation and litter collection activities. Duties also include reporting found or potential safety, maintenance, or non-compliance issues. This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

• Ensures that their work area is clean, organized, safe and presentable in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
• Performs effective housekeeping and sanitation activities to ensure that the facility areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
• Supervises and directs the trustees in the proper performance of their daily tasks while maintaining the security, safety, and control of the inmate/offender pursuant to applicable FMJS regulations and in accordance with agency policies.
• Supervises contractors while they are working in the building.
• Maintains an accurate count of all inmates/offenders assigned to the work detail at all times and will complete and disseminate the required documentation concerning inmate/offender assignments in a timely manner in accordance with agency policies/procedures.
• Determines type and quantity of supplies/equipment required and accurately completes and submits the requisition request to the appropriate personnel for authorization and processing.
• Ensures that restrooms are clean, sanitized, and in good working order.
• Vacuums carpet inbuilding.

Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• Proficient in Microsoft office products.
• Speak and understand the English language.
