Description
The Chaplain is responsible for recruiting, coordinating and/or monitoring religious volunteers and events inside the detention facility. Incumbent must determine and coordinate crisis assistance needs and resources; distribute religious literature and items; and actively participates in ceremonies, services, meetings, and conferences. Duties also include coordinating special holiday religious programs, providing for religious dietary needs, and maintaining an on call schedule inside the detention facility.
- Identifies the physical and psychological and spiritual needs of crisis victims, determines the resources available, and coordinates the assistance personnel/activities.
- Provides those in need with effective family counseling to assist in resolving personal/family problems and issues.
- Counsel inmates, deputies, civilians, and their families through emergencies such as death, illness, incarceration, family needs etc.
- Organizes volunteers whose purpose is to lead church services, for all the inmates each week.
- Provides and organizes quarterly calendar schedule of services.
- Reviews supporting documentation verifying that the religious volunteer/applicant is recognized as a priest, minister, Imam, or rabbi, etc.. by the appropriate governing/overseeing regulatory bodies.
- Participates in various community outreach activities, functions, events, to promote community involvement in law enforcement, and law enforcement involvement in the community.
- Distributes religious literature and items such as Bibles, prayer books, devotional books, "Bible studies", etc. to requesters, and supplies items as appropriate to the religious sections of the inmate libraries.
- Writes/researches and delivers appropriate prayers for the situation at hand.
- Informs the general public and staff about the services and religious programs offered including as applicable, conducting orientation classes for recruits and newly hired staff and speaking at churches and other public forums.

Requirements
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- Must possess/maintain a valid Ministerial Ordination license.
- 5 years Prior law enforcement, corrections or military experience
- Active CJSTC LEO or Corrections certification is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft office products
- Speak and understand the English language
