- Forensic Investigator Shift Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Forensic Services Administrator, performs supervisory administrative and technical work in the supervision of Forensic Investigators on an assigned shift. Duties are accomplished with a degree of independence and at a level of authority and responsibility where the member must exercise good judgment and individual initiative in the performance of assigned duties. A variety of clerical, statistical and equipment maintenance tasks are monitored in connection with the position. Coordinates crime scene investigation / processing in conjunction with Major Crimes Detectives. Work is reviewed by the Forensic Services Administrator, or designee, through daily observation of section activity, oral and written reports, discussions, periodic staff conferences and inspections. Shift work is required, and subject to call-out 24 hours a day. EOE/ADA
Requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES
Bachelor’s degree in Crime Scene Technology, Forensic Science, Criminal Justice or other physical or natural science and three (3) years’ relevant experience in crime scene investigation and/or crime scene processing required, with two (2) of those years in a previous forensic or public safety supervisory role preferred. Associate’s degree in the above fields and five (5) years’ relevant experience OR High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience as noted above may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree. Knowledge of firearms, photography, fingerprint development, evidence handling and report writing is required. Computer skills preferred. Knowledge of laws is preferred. Must maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License at all times. Unescorted CJIS clearance as authorized by FDLE is required.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The physical abilities listed below are estimates of time spent during a typical workday to perform essential functions and responsibilities. Members in this position may be required to:
Travel over rough, uneven, or muddy surfaces
Move objects weighing up to 50 pounds short and long distances
Remain in a standing or sitting position for extended periods of time
Perform duties in/on helicopters, aircraft, elevated platforms, ladders and roofs
Perform duties in conditions to include decomposing bodies, strong odors, insects, hostility, emotionally charged situations, child victims and animal victims
Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements
Perform all functions of the job classification without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
