Description
JOB SUMMARY
Highly visible civilian position responsible for augmenting the sworn force of the Sheriff's Office. These members perform services and support law enforcement functions that do not require emergency law enforcement response or regulatory authority to include (but not limited to); response to calls for service, basic investigations, crime-scene processing, report writing, traffic direction and control, and community assistance. Requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES
High School Equivalent (Diploma or GED General Equivalency Diploma) required. Experience as a Post 916 Explorer or Desk Officer preferred. This position requires a Valid Florida Driver’s License. Unescorted CJIS Clearance as authorized by FDLE is required.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The physical abilities listed below are estimates of time spent during a typical workday to perform essential functions and responsibilities. Members in this position may be required to:
Sit up to 7 hours per day
Stand up to 8 hours per day
Walk up to 8 hours per day
Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Occasionally bend, squat, reach, kneel or twist
Other Requirements:
20/40 vision (corrected/uncorrected)
Ability to hear conversation at a normal level (assisted or unassisted)
Ability to work shift work
Ability to work in confined environments
Ability to maneuver in and around confined environments
Ability to climb stairs, navigate tight living spaces, navigate living spaces that may be deemed hazardous
Ability to expeditiously extricate oneself from an unsafe environment
Ability to work in hazardous conditions
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
