JOB SUMMARY
This is a skilled civilian position responsible for tracking, installation and/or maintenance of two-way radio and digital communications equipment, enhancing the agency’s intra and inter-agency telecommunications capabilities, and developing the related knowledge, skills, and abilities of agency staff. Assists with new installations and performs system/device programming, service calls, de-installations, and network maintenance, among other projects. Coordinates with outside entities and vendors for repair, programming, and optimization of agency equipment. Maintains up-to-date accurate records for inventory and repair/maintenance work performed within the agency. Performs preventive maintenance inspections on agency equipment. The position also assists the agency with research, testing, and evaluation of new and emerging technologies in public safety communications. The incumbent will work with all mission essential units in the agency to understand communication gaps and requirements in order to innovate public safety communication. This role will also assist the Emergency Management division during critical incidents and disaster deployments in and out of the county. EOE/ADA
Requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES
High School Diploma and one year of progressively responsible experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of radio communications or electronic devices and systems required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Management Information Systems Administration, Engineering, Broadcast Communications, or related field preferred. Experience in public safety communications sector to include 800mhz P25 radio systems and familiarity with Harris and Motorola systems preferred. Valid Florida Driver License. Unescorted CJIS clearance as authorized by FDLE is required.

Ability to lift of up to 20 lbs.

20/40 vision in each eye (corrected/uncorrected)
Ability to hear conversation at a normal level (assisted or unassisted)
Ability to work in hazardous conditions
