This is a very responsible investigative position requiring an experienced certified deputy that would perform background investigations on applicants. Reports would be completed on information obtained that would then be reviewed by the effected Bureau Chief prior to placement into applicant’s file.
Requirements
JOB PREREQUISITES: In addition to meeting the requirements for Deputy I, II, Deputy III, Corporal or Master Corporal, the applicant must meet the following requirements for entry level detective: Two years uniform patrol with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, with average or above average patrol activity. Favorable annual evaluations and not be on probationary status. Selection by the Bureau Chief.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrate investigative ability by conducting thorough and complete comprehensive background reports. Maintain certification as a sworn officer as required by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Successfully complete background investigation training as required by the Agency within 6 months to the standards of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Professionalism Division. Maintain possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Successfully complete and maintain proficiency in annual firearms training, driver certification, defensive tactics and the physical agility course within the prescribed time limit as required by the agency policy. Successful completion of criminal investigation or related courses preferred.
