Company Overview
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office provides Law Enforcement service to all of the Florida Keys, which include approximately 112 miles of islands branching off the Southern tip of Florida. In order to provide progressive service, the Sheriff's Office employs 544 people. 189 of those are road patrol officers and detectives, 139 are Corrections Officers, 158 serve as support and 58 people are employed by the Sheriff's Office-managed HIDTA Group (High Intesity Drug Trafficking Area). The Main Sheriff's Office Administration building is located on Stock Island, with patrol substations on Cudjoe Key, in Marathon (Key Vaca), Islamorada, and on Plantation Key. Sheriff Rick Ramsay's vision is to enhance the quality of life in the Florida Keys through strong community partnerships.
Company History
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office was established in 1823 as the primary law enforcement agency in the Florida Keys.
There have been 36 Sheriff’s of Monroe County since it was incorporated in 1823.
