JOB SUMMARY
The Civil Technician is accountable for maintaining and processing all legally required documents for writs, judgments, and levies. This position requires detailed tasks be efficiently documented, researched, copied and processed in accordance with State Statutes. The incumbent must exercise independent judgment and have the ability to understand and apply knowledge of County and State Regulations to effectively process, research, and complete all phases of vehicle, personal property, and real property levies. Additionally, the Civil Technician may be responsible for maintaining budgetary records and ordering/purchasing supplies to ensure the smooth operation of the unit. The Civil Technician shall be proficient in job tasks of the Civil Clerk I including: receiving, processing, assigning, and returning subpoenas, summons, court orders, and writs directed to the Sheriff; answering incoming calls from the public, attorneys, and court offices. NOTE
It is understood that every incidental duty connected with operations enumerated in job descriptions are not always specifically described and personnel, at the discretion of the Sheriff's Office may be required to perform duties not within their job descriptions. This position is not eligible for an assigned agency vehicle.

Preference-eligible applicants claiming Veteran’s Preference will be required to submit supporting documentation. Waiver of postsecondary educational requirements is not applicable for this position.
Requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES
High School Equivalent (Diploma/General Equivalency Diploma) required. A minimum of two years in Court Processing experience or Legal/Accounting experience preferred. Must maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License at all times. Unescorted CJIS clearance as authorized by FDLE is required.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The physical abilities listed below are estimates of time spent during a typical workday to perform essential functions and responsibilities. Members in this position may be required to:
Sit up to 7 hours per day
Stand up to 1 hour per day
Walk up to 1 hour per day
Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Occasionally bend, squat, reach, kneel, twist, balance, stoop or crouch
Other Requirements:
20/40 vision (corrected/uncorrected)
Ability to hear conversation at a normal level (assisted or unassisted)
Ability to work shift work
Ability to work in hazardous conditions
Verbal and written communication ability
Ability to reason and perform basic mathematics
