Description
The purpose of the position is to assist in the development and maintenance of our various enterprise information technology systems and supporting subsystems. This encompasses assistance on client systems as advisor/liaison to our clients in order to satisfy any current and forecasted needs. It may include both qualifying the necessary requirements and providing demonstrations of the recommended solutions prior to any formal implementation. For this, the ideal candidate should possess strong professional interpersonal qualities in addition to the technical aptitude expected from an established IT expert.
Position Duties:
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Install, configure and maintain client and 3rd party product components and subsystems.
Respond to system failures and work with vendors to resolve issues related to hardware and software.
Assists with maintenance and configuration of VOIP phones, PBX’s and associated hardware
Prepare disaster recovery plans and restore enterprise systems as needed.
Ensure information systems remains compliant with CJIS regulations and policies
Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve technical problems or product support deficiencies.
Monitor system resource usage and ensure adequate resources are available to meet the IT requirements through resource scheduling and new resource acquisition.
Prepare detailed systems administration plans and level of effort estimates for meeting product roadmap release requirements; provide detailed bill of materials and cost estimates for new hardware and software or upgrades to and maintenance of existing hardware and software.
Track progress project milestones and ensure expectations are met and participate in senior client project management reviews
Other work as directed by the Chief Technology Officer or their delegate
Functional Area: Network Administration
Ensure the stable operation of all enterprise network hardware and software infrastructure, LANs, WANs and WLANs.
Perform network design and capacity planning
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes and service records.
Diagnose problems with network equipment and perform equipment repair or upgrades when appropriate
Installs, configures and maintains network dabbling and other networking equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls and other related hardware or software
Monitors network performance and notifies IT management and other IT employees of issues
Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware and software upgrades relating to network or telecom equipment
Design and deploy enterprise class wireless networks, including access points, routers, switches and other hardware

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information systems or related field and three (3) years' experience in Information Technology
OR
- Associates degree or technical diploma in an IT related field and five (5) years of relevant experience in Information Technology.
- Valid Driver's License (must be maintained throughout employment).
Additional Information:
Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in an office environment. Hours are primarily (Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm), but position requires employee to be flexible based on needs of the agency and available for any disaster or emergency situation.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation including polygraph, pre-employment medical physical, reference/employment/neighborhood checks. submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to assuming position and will be subject to return to duty, post-accident and/or random and reasonable suspicion drug tests while employed with BCSO.
